Global Health WG: Thematic Session 1
'The relevance of community-centered approaches to achieve global equitable access, leaving no one behind’
This year, three UN HLMs are to be held on the margins of UNGA: on UHC, on tuberculosis, and on pandemic prevention, preparedness, and response (PPPR). Building synergies across the HLMs as well as integrated and action-oriented high-level political declarations is crucial to ensuring coherence across global health agendas. Community-led systems, approaches, leadership and responses are fundamental and cross-cutting building blocks that are central to effective and equitable health responses in UHC.
Hosted by the C7 Global Health Working Group, this session will discuss the relevance of community-led approaches, responses and leadership as the linchpin to UHC and effective PPPR. Panelists will identify and share lessons learned from contexts where robust community systems have led to improved health equity, and where renewed political commitment, resources and strengthened efforts are necessary to make equitable access and UHC a global reality.
