Covid 19 has taught us that most countries, including the more developed ones, are barely prepared to prevent new pandemics and respond adequately. The lack of financing for access to health services and to medicines is more notorious in the most vulnerable low and middle income countries of the global south which demand assistance and global solidarity.
In this session, we will identify and share lessons learned and the importance of building synergies in the global health agenda, new ways of financing such as the Pandemic Fund and the GPI (Global public investment). The leadership of WHO and international aid and the role of G7 countries.
We will identify local responsibilities and requirements and what to finance ensuring countries' leadership in defining priorities in healthcare and medical technologies and implementing their own plans. Contexts where robust civil society and community systems have improved health equity and response, and where renewed political commitment, resources and strengthened efforts are necessary in accountability and monitoring.
